Heat losses from commercial
and industrial buildings result in discomfort for
occupants and increased heating costs. Frequently
opened doors – such as those in reception
areas, retail or leisure premises, or delivery
bays – compound the problem.
As the following table shows, heat losses through
open doors can be dramatic – and expensive.
Based on a fuel cost equivalent of 1.5p/kWh, a
single 6x6m doorway open 24 hours a day for 215
days from October to April would waste energy worth £16,700. |
